The information technology sector and the media are closely linked, each contributing to the other’s growth. “Journalists use word processors and costly cameras, technology that has been inspired by their work,”
said S Sadagopan, professor and director of International Institute of Information and Technology , Bengaluru, at the first convocation of the National School of Journalism (NSoJ) held on Saturday . “On behalf of the IT sector, I thank the media for contributing to our growth in a number of ways. Because of you, we created many technologies,” he added.
Karnataka’s Agriculture minister, Shri Krishna Byregowda stressed on the “need for dynamic leaders for a better society and a better country ,” while adding, “I urge journalism students not to mix profit with their constitutional and social responsibilities. The great Indian jugaad won’t work, it can’t help produce great talent, great leaders.”
Six students were picked for the first batch of the postgraduate diploma in print, electronic and converging media. Khushboo Aneja, winner of the best student award, said, “When I look at the mirror, I see a transformed girl, ready to take on the world.”
